On October 19, "Symposium on Regional Cooperation between China and Russia in the New Era" was held in Chengdu. The symposium was jointly organized by the Chinese Secretariat of University Alliance "Yangtze-Volga", Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Russian Studies Center of Sichuan University. Professor Zeng Xianghong was invited to attend the symposium and delivered a speech entitled "The Hedging Strategy of Central Asian Countries and Interaction between China and Russia in Central Asia".

53 experts and scholars from Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Sichuan University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, University of International Relations, Fudan University, Wuhan University, National University of Defense Technology, Lanzhou University, East China Normal University and Social Sciences in China Press attended the meeting.

Experts and scholars mainly focused on issues of Sino-Russian relations under the unprecedented changes in the past 100 years, current Sino-Russian-American triangular relations, Sino-Russian bilateral cooperation, "Yangtze-Volga" regional cooperation mechanism, and Russian studies in Chinese Academics in the past 70 years during the symposium.
